Life is a journey, for sure, but I think for some of us, we hit a place where it's not about the destination, but the journey itself. I guess I arrived at that place several years ago, but am continuously coming to the realization that it really isn't about what's waiting at the end, but rather what happens in the process, that matters. It's been about 15 years, I guess, since I initially started on this journey, but for the last five, well, they've been blog-worthy. I tried to journal, but I get bored with hand writing things so I usually give up. As a writer, I think with my fingers at a keyboard, so I guess it makes sense to blog as a form of journaling.
I'm sure in subsequent posts, I'll fill in some of the historical context for this journey, but I don't feel like doing that today. Today, I just need to think "outloud" and I need a safe space for doing so. This format seemed as good as any.
I approach this blog from multiple positionalities, including doctoral candidate, spiritual seeker, and educator; as such, the content of this blog will primarily focus around issues of spirituality, society, education, academia, and intersections of those places. I have more questions than answers, which they say is normal for those engaged in academia. But being a rather confident person who has historically had lots of answers, I often find this state of "answerlessness" rather disconcerting and sometimes kinda scary. I don't think I'm the only individual who is asking these questions and I thought that perhaps by blogging, I might find a community of fellow travelers to sit by the campfire at night and tell tales of the day's journey. If nothing else, I can perhaps open a door and let some light shine on some of the questions which seem to be bouncing around in the dark. You're welcome to just read, or to read and join the conversation. I'd enjoy the company.
